I am finally trying to clean out closets and have a children’s easel that should go to some fcc or center. I looked on your website and it looks like you have to go through some kind of virtual rigamarole to donate anything to your boutique. Do you know anyone I can just give it to? I’ll deliver it.

Also — I got a message from Abby Cohen this a.m. that Carol Stevenson died yesterday. I don’t know details but will keep you posted as I hear. she is a great loss to us all. so sad. Give me a call, ok? 510-205-6442

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, and bringing out those excellent points. Making positive changes in the ECE field’s gender imbalance takes all of us to influence and advocate for progressive change. Bananas is grateful to have had the opportunity to raise awareness and to continue the conversation in an attempt to support our childcare community. However; this is just the starting point and Bananas is committed to continuing the dialog by establishing a support cafe for male early childhood educators and providing professional development opportunities for men. Bananas is committed to promoting change in the area of gender imbalance by being intentional and proactive in encouraging male educators. We see you, and we not only recognize but are grateful for your contributions to our educational community.

Thank you for spotlighting this ongoing anti-bias issue in early childhood education.
I appreciate how you provided clarity on what young children gain from male early childhood educators.
It made me think more about equitable opportunities and how adults need to develop a variety of capacities in supporting a variety of young children.
I stand in solidarity with you – of course males in ECE.
How do we support all adults in providing a balance to young children regardless of the adults gender?
How can we re-conceptualize traditional, patriarchal, and sometimes oppressive ways of seeing and knowing concerning ECE?
Bananas offered two rounds of males in ECE groups over the years to encourage support in the profession. I’m not sure we truly evaluated the effectiveness of the groups and what each participant was seeking.
