Description:

Childcare for church nursery during Sunday morning worship service 10-12:30.
Ages infant to 5. Attendance varies; usually about 3.
Another staff member or volunteer will work with you so child-to-caregiver ratio is never unmanageable.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary function of this position is to provide care, bible story and craft for children under 5 during Sunday Worship and to provide support to the Children’s Ministry as assigned. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provide care, bible story and craft in the Child Care Room on Sunday mornings from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
(Worship is from 10:30 to as late as 12 noon; we ask you arrive early and stay late for parent connections and nursery prep/cleanup.)
2. If there are no children under 5 on a Sunday, assist with Children’s Church as an additional leader.
3. Assist in connecting children to parents after the Worship Service.
4. Accurately track attendance of all children in the Child Care Room on provided sheets.
5. Ensure that the Child Care Room is a welcoming and safe environment (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) for all children and parents.
6. Ensure that children are kept on Church property and are engaged in safe activities at all times.
7. Interact and play with children with age appropriate games, crafts and reading.
8. Ensure that play surfaces and materials are clean (washing/disinfecting as necessary or per schedule) and returned to storage areas before leaving.
9. Work as a team with other staff and volunteers.
10. Evaluate children prior to entry in the Child Care Room for possible contagious illnesses.
11. Notify parents or appropriate contact of any issues arising with the children in a timely manner.
12. Report any concerns of child abuse to pastoral staff or moderator

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 or older.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Must be willing to undergo a LIVESCAN background check and FBI fingerprinting process.
• Experience with general baby/toddler care (feeding, diaper changing, etc.)
• Familiarity with developmental needs and appropriate play levels of young children.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to support children from diverse families (i.e. same gender, adopted, multi-racial, etc.)
• Ability to complete assigned tasks and work in a team environment.

WORK SCHEDULE: Sunday Mornings from 10 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. Other occasional opportunities for additional hours on a weekday evening.

HOURLY RATE $25-$32 Depending on Experience
